David Ortiz, Executive
Protection Specialist, brings over twenty years of martial arts training
and five black belts to the task of protecting others, be they actors,
diplomats, rock stars or corporate executives. He has been an integral
part of providing security at such high profile events as the Academy
Awards, the Democratic National Convention, numerous star-studded movie
premieres and concerts.
His talents in the martial arts led him
into a career in providing security as an operative and then as a
trainer of other Executive Protection Specialists and security
professionals. David’s special talent is in not only teaching physical
techniques but also the principles of effective security as they relate
to the clients’ specific objectives.
As
an operative, he has been a bodyguard for many well-known persons. Some
he has protected include: Madonna, Kobe Bryant, Jennifer Lopez, Sharon
Stone, Coretta Scott King, Snoop Dogg, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, U.S.
Olympians, Aerosmith, Ozomatli and the Chinese Ambassador to the U.S.
As a security expert, he has instructed/consulted and provided his
expertise to law enforcement agencies and private security/investigative
firms. He has tailor-made programs aimed at raising the level of
security at some of L.A.’s hottest nightclubs.
David Ortiz is a rising star in the
world of martial arts entertainment, too. With the proliferation of
martial arts in our culture, especially in film and television,
remarkably he is currently the ONLY martial artist teaching safety tips
on national television as the star of the weekly show “LatiNation”. He
has been tapped to act in famed martial artist/film director Art
Camacho’s next several films. He can been seen in the martial arts
instructional video “The Magnificent Seven” featuring great martial arts
legends such as “Judo” Gene LeBell, Kenpo Master Ron Chapel, action film
star Richard Norton and kick-boxing legend Benny “The Jet” Urquidez. He
is also the Executive Producer and Co-Creator of the new television
magazine show “American Martial Arts Action.” David will host the
series when it airs.
Korean Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido as well
as the Filipino arts of Eskrima, Eskrido and Pangamot are his martial
arts styles of choice, yet he has a deep understanding and respect for
all of the martial arts. He credits the film “Billy Jack” with
inspiring him to study Hapkido as a child and leading him to this life.
He continues his involvement in both the Jun Chong system of Tae Kwon Do
and Hapkido as well as the Cacoy Canete system of Doce Pares Eskrima,
Eskrido, and Pangamot in Los Angeles, California. He instructs a weekly
class teaching the Doce Pares system of Filipino martial arts.
David inspires and motivates others with a
contagious enthusiasm for the martial arts, a “down to earth”
communication style that makes learning his safety tips understandable
and a playful and fun attitude.
